The George - “Little Inn at Washington”
Built in 1895, The Louise Hotel became a landmark of the city of Washington. A 1915 article describes the hotel's most modern of conveniences. "All the rooms have electric lights, hot and cold running water, and private telephones and private bath connections. The rates are indeed reasonable when you consider the high quality of the services." The writer goes on to say that The Louise is "... a strictly first class hotel in every respect and a favorite stopping place with all the high class travelers" A century later, Progress Partners is working to restore this wonderful building to its original glory - but with all the current modern conveniences, of course. Restoration and Renovation of the Inn will be completed in three phases: The Mission of The George, Little Inn at Washington will be Beaufort County’s most prestigious calling card offering overnight guests a historically significant yet modern, water front inn with guest rooms, spa treatment rooms and a rooftop pavilion overlooking our greatest natural resource, the Pamlico River. Not only will the Inn provide lodging for vacationers and business travelers but will serve as a regional draw for the entire “Inner Banks”. The Inn will position itself to serve the HWY 17 travel corridor as well as the Greenville, Wilson, and Raleight “getaway” markets as the only inn of its kind. The George plans feature a full service aesthetic and medical spa, a non-traditional restaurant featuring a “tapas” fare, 37 lodging rooms, nine of which will be luxury condo-type suites, crowned with the most important amenity a river front town can offer - a river view rooftop - the SkyDesk and Pavilion at the George.
